Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Discher, in spite of his young age, is already one of the most profield American biophysicists. Truly successful in combining modern soft material science and biological systems, he has significantly advanced our understanding of cell and membrane elasticity. In recent years, he was also leading in the development of so-called "polymersomes", now one of the most promising candidates for modern drug delivery systems. This award will enable his stay at the Max Planck Institute in Golm and the University of Leipzig and further research, which promises to be an invaluable gain for both sides.
